The bumper for my 1986 528e arrived today and it is spotless! Thank you so much for the quick shipment and for the care you put into the preparation and delivery. You were very detailed as to the condition before I purchased it and it arrived in even better condition than I expected. I will be in touch for needs as they arrive in the future. Much appreciated. -- KP

Thanks again for the great service! I'll be looking for you if I need anything else! -- JG

E28 Direction of Fuel Flow through Main Fuel Pump

Last Updated: 10/16/2016
This article discusses the main fuel pump (underneath the car, near the rear wheel, passenger side) for the BMW E28 (the 528e, 533i and 535i made from 1982 through 1988) with the main focus being on the direction of the fuel flow through the pump, so you don't inadvertently install it the wrong way around and then end up very puzzled.

If you're not here for the technical analysis but would rather buy a used unit from us, guaranteed to work and fit, then please select the link below.
The information herein is based on my own 1982 528e car.

Essentially, the main fuel pump is shaped like a cylinder. Fuel flows in one end, and out the other. Two electrical connectors, one 12V positive and one negative, bring power the fuel pump. The two connectors are side by side on the same side of the fuel pump, and (key point) the fuel flows out, in the direction of where the two connectors are.
